Road Trip to Ossipee: Three New Runners Join the Flock

Today we made the drive up to Ossipee, NH, and came home with three new additions: Puddles, Firequacker, and Sprout — our newest Runner ducks.

If you've never met a Runner in person, they're the breed that looks like it's perpetually late for something, thanks to that upright, bowling-pin posture and a walk that's more of a sprint. They don't waddle so much as march, and we cannot wait to watch these three tear across the yard.

The trip

Nothing quite like a truck full of a duck-transport box, bed full of a shelter, and 3 new additions to make a Saturday feel official. Puddles, Firequacker, and Sprout handled the ride better than expected, and by the time we pulled back into the driveway, they were already very opinionated about their new surroundings.

Settling in

The next few days are all about the basics: a quiet space to decompress, fresh water, and time to get used to the sounds and smells of their new home before we start introducing them to the rest of the flock. Runners are curious and vocal, so we expect that adjustment period to be short — and loud.

Three names, three personalities still to be discovered, one very full flock. Welcome home, Puddles, Firequacker, and Sprout.
